On "Specialness", My best bone china mug is from a submarine, it has the sub emblem emblazoned on its side, I got it as a gift from the crew when I sailed with them, sea trialling communciations equipment I'd helped to fit to the sub as part of my job as a systems Engineer. That was around 2002, over twenty years ago. The boat sails no longer now I think. So the mug is irreplaceable. But it is perfectly shaped, with the best weight to capacity ratio of any other cups I've used in my life. So I use it all the time, even in other places I've worked, it is the cup I prefer to drink tea from wherever I am, which probably maximises its chances of being broken, it doesn't live in a display cabinet. Specialness to me means use it more, enjoy it more, life is too short to withold specialness, from oneself or from others, I think.
