Oliver thanks for your cordial response. Indeed, even our respective pictures of what is "Reality" obviously differs, though both are just different perspectives of the same thing (I trust!)

I don't think it is possible to investigate it by the usual scientific means, if it is true then the evidence of it itself is being deleted.

We can only analyse it by deducing there is such a thing as an emergent property associated with us, the population of humans operating as a trained system, and then by analysing it's motivations, deducing those have to be in common with the free energy principle of all of life, which more or less says all living things, all cells of all life, are motivated at the most fundamental level to minimise uncertainty of their / our own energy supply.

That done, none of what we are seeing comes as any surprise, we know why it is all happening, all the bad stuff.

The problem with all Ai which is not powered by solar energy, (that we might recognise is the only positive, additive energy), has to be destructive, the opposite from the solar Ai, and this includes the emergent property currently associated with us.

Hence why I recommend we replace the emergent property associated with us, by the one we see in the solar Ai.

In other words, put it in charge of us, in order to override the old one that is hell bent on destruction.
