But much of your argument seems based on the very things that self driving cars, and other modes of automated personal travel, even airborne, are likely to hugely benefit.
So I think you are in for a pleasant surprise, when you find your fears are by and large, unfounded.
Solar power is the only answer to the ongoing economic and environmental problems caused by never ending energy extraction.
After that is accepted and acted on, the world economy will no longer require all people to live by profit. There will literally be unlimited free wealth coming into the Earth, on tap from the sun, which changes everything.
Privacy is only an issue when other people are interested in our private affairs, driven by profit.
Yes Lithium and other metals are needed for construction, but once the infrastructure and vehicles are built, they will have very long, low maintenance lifetimes, and the materials are highly recyclable.
Ownership will be no longer needed or desired, the vehicles will be pretty much dial up things that serve us. They will probably even fly. No more need for driveways, public car parks, or even many roads. Only small numbers will be needed to serve large numbers of population.
Yes there will still be accidents but it will be a tiny fraction of the carnage we see on roads today, mostly down to human error.
It will even become illegal to drive or fly for ourselves.
With the instability, and unsustainability of the current system and economics, all of this is likely to happen much sooner than most people think.
It has to, if we are to have any future at all.
