All those negotiations you say were intentionally derailed include the times when Arafat was put under house arrest when Mandela was still alive, and in contact with Arafat, and Mandela was the first I remember identifying the situation in Palestein/israel as Apartheid, after he'd won the support needed to defeat apartheid in Africa, and defeated it.
