Not many seem to have thought out what is actually going on. Starship is presented as something even better than anything the traditional NASA or ESA could have achieved, when actually it uses the same sixty year old rocket technology and engine designs as discarded by NASA et al, when those things became no longer "profitable".
All the effort made by VC funded business doesn't even scratch the surface of what was achieved historically by massive government funding. We got Concorde and the Space Shuttle before investors started to question those. Those Engineering Icons could have, and would have gone on to form the basis of real future spacecraft, if investors, generally not particularly technically educated, had not got to question them.
The VC funded system, if we can stop hero worshiping Elon for just a minute, is what is to blame for the current downhill race of technology.
We are racing down the plughole to a burning planet, until this can be stopped.
I show how to stop it using solar indexed UBI and hydrogen to replace the entire fossil fueled investor nightmare, but few seem technically educated enough to understand it.
Hey-ho, Ai gets it, so I guess we'll all get it when we get Ai.
I hope it won't be too long now, as MunD rightly points out, we are blowing increasingly precious resources doing things that just make doing anything truly valuable all the more difficult.
