No grid, and no vanadium, nor even batteries needed, if all communities have local solar, and it goes first to generating hydrogen to local tanks, fed to local fuel cells to generate electricity to local microgrids. With enough local solar, from panels on every practical surface, even in city centres, an excess in hydrogen beyond what is needed to keep the local microgrid backed up, can be sold to other microgrids with shortages, or EVs converted to take hydrogen by replacement of battery with reversible hydrogen fuel cell (Acts like a battery, but can be charged by injection of hydrogen)

The fundamental reason this is not being publicised is that it does not suit the Oligarchic big-business nature that world governments have become, they wish to be in control of energy such that they can switch it off, when folk are not conforming. Further, since the Joules of solar energy are the only ones adding to the Joules of energy already on Earth, when we start to put them to major use, as is starting to happen now, the product produced from them, including hydrogen, and "Solein", has to be reflected by issue of money. Since the energy of the sun is pushed to us for free, no extraction needed, the money has to be issued for free to all people.

So far the fiat money-issuers are not doing that.

But the kicker for the money issuing Oligarchs wielding capital for power, is that now we are physically using the energy, and money is not being issued to reflect it, the money is dropping in value, hence we see inflation, because in the end, it is not the money which is valuable, it is the energy coming in.

So to regain any kind of value in fiat currencies, they will have to start issuing it for free, to satisfy the Austrian Economic principle that money should only be issued on actual product, and it should reflect that product.
