Nick, thanks for your response and worthy opinion.

My own opinion from many years at senior Engineer levels in many multi-billion pound projects is that it is simply down to the drive for profit.

With even a small fraction of the resources thrown at fusion, the required storage technology would very quickly rise to the challenge. There is also no shortage of land, huge unused desert areas all around the equator which could be turned into smart cities, distributing power all over the world.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of fusion, like everyone else. But first things have to come first.

If we can’t sort out things at home, we really have no chance of aspiring to the stars.

So we have to get over the profit obsession and start working in collaboration, all of humanity towards the same end.

Will that ever happen?

Who knows. I still have some optimism it will, somehow.
