Nice you are seeing it as a system missing inputs and outputs Indi.
But there is a simple logical solution. Consumption of resources is destruction, the thing resulting in accumulated pollution.
So, instead of consuming resources created by nature, we have to start consuming resources we made ourselves, from an energy source that doesn't deplete, and doesn't cost anything. Luckily there is one, the sun, and something we can create from it that functionally replaces fossil fuels with none of the pollution in its use or consumption, because we made it ourselves, from the sun, hydrogen.
Use that to back up all energy collected during sunshine hours, via fuel cells, and there we have the functional replacement for batteries, including those in EVs.
Convert some of the hydrogen further to food in the form of "Solein", and there we have the functional replacement for food from the conventional food chain, relieving some of our burden on the latter, allowing it to recover.
Add to all this that a natural side effect of widespread use of hydrogen, even in air transportation, is filtration and circulation of water, and actually of air itself, and it becomes a no-brainer, it seems to me.
The one very big fly in the ointment of all of this, is that it can't be monetised as debt. which means it is not compatible with the economy as stands.
So the economy has to change to adapt to it.
That starts, the instant money starts to be issued on the product already created from the sun historically.
That means massive UBI for all, devaluing all capital.
Yep, banks, investors, everyone sitting on capital, all the political figures in power will have to agree to that.
That is the only thing standing in the way out the mess we are in.
It is a pretty big obstacle, for sure, but I am hoping Ai might be the key, the Grand negotiator capable of managing it all.
Maybe that will make a difference, who knows.
