Need to be careful about the dooming, it actually has a pretty harmful effect, leading to animosity amongst us, and eventually cull, and atrocity, in my opinion, tracing motives.
There is a near instant solution, nothing is baked in. But it involves something much more radical than you've identified here, given we now know the root source of the problem.
The root source of the problem is profit. Profit is an energy con. We carry out this energy con with every profitable transaction. Money is energy, always, with the amount of tokens per kWhr being set by markets. So when we put a little money out, and get more back than we put out, this is an energy con which has to propagate to the planet. Only the planet can supply more energy out than was put in.
This is destruction of the planet, which immediately becomes temperature. The planet loses far more to temperature than we put to use, whilst still even making an energy profit. We never consider this normally, but now we know, if we continue doing it, it has to be seen as a crime of dishonesty.
The solution is to remove the need of all people to function for profit. The only way to do that is issue of free money to all, and the only way to back that money with energy, is to back it with the energy from the sun that we are already putting to use.
That works out as quite a generous solar indexed UBI for all people.
It isn't possible to monetise the energy of the sun at profit, because the sun only gives what it gives, with a choice, take it or leave it. We literally can't steal it.
However there is a penalty for choosing not to use it, that is heating of the planet.
We have to use the solar energy to create things like nature did, to reduce the heating effect of it.
Notice we already destroyed a large part of nature that used to do that.
Hence why the energy con doesn't work with the sun.
Until we start issuing the solar stimulus, we might as well not be using solar energy at all, it is like we put an insulator around all solar installations, that pens in the economic product from it.
The only way to get the amount of energy we need as a population from the sun, is to use it on a domestic and community basis.
By using hydrogen to backup all installations, there will be excess available for transportation. So the onus for supply of energy has to move from utilities energy supply companies to the public.
The public need to be empowered and incentivised to do that.
Solar indexed stimulus will provide that incentive, everyone will work towards maximising the solar stipend by maximising their solar capacity, hence all the energy captured wil be dumped to hydrogen.
Notice widespread use of hydrogen cleans both air and water, but even better, it circulates the filtrated water. Notice also hydrogen converts to "Solein" which is human consumable food.
These are positive multipliers that I identify in my book "The Energy Polarity Multiplier Framework".
Everything changes to more or less the opposite, when we switch the polarity of the energy that powers us as a population. Currently it is negative, subtracting from Earth. So everything created by it has to be negative, it never was creation, just the illusion of creation, a few small things created at the cost of much more to Earth.
The energy from the sun and created from it is positive, adding to Earth, reducing temperature.
In that scenario we need all hands to the pump, the more the merrier, to put as much solar energy to use as we possibly can.
I would say this will be us having the cake and eating it.
But we have to want it. We'll never want it if we don't even know what it is we are doing wrong, and what we need to do to fix it.
Waiting until after the cull has happened, would / will be the biggest mistake we can ever make.
