My reply is same as last time.
Of course the Earth is just a giant battery, or at least we treat it like that.
Nature charged it up over a few million years using the only actual source of energy in our solar system, creating everything we know, the sun.
We found a way to discharge it in about 150 years, it is the simple mechanism of profit, honed to a fine art, creating a cult religion named capitalism to hide the truth, that we were discharging the battery all along. That is the grand energy Ponzi.
Now we owe a load of re-charging energy to our planet, it has to be put back.

It can only be put back using the only real source of energy, the sun.
We have the technology to that, but seemingly not yet the will a species to see the true nature of the problem, or the solution, or the fix, to farm the energy of the sun.

There is obviously too much money in not admiting that as yet, but pretty soon the gravy train of supposedly renewable energy will run out, leaving just one option, the energy of the sun, the only real, live energy.

It isn’t renewable, but is everlasting, and is virtually limitless, especially when we accept money is already being minted directly from it, not by banks, but by an unstoppable distributed network, increasingly solar powered.
Your article missing out that simple logic means it doesn’t quite address the real issue.
But it is close enough to start a dialog, thanks for posting.
