My comment is similar to Salvatores, it looks to me like the object of the effort is to make machine learning more like imprintation, less like processing by transformation (Thinking!), in an effort to save energy.
Correct me if I am wrong but there are two aspects to cost of processing; hardware and energy, and what more hardware does is reduce processing time for the same computation, which in the end requires or converts the same amount of energy to data. With more hardware the conversion is done rapidly with less iterations, and with less hardware the conversion takes longer with more iterations required to do the same conversion of energy to data, though there might be differences in heat dissipated, the end result of the conversion is the same.
But if the energy costs nothing per Joule (Given for free from the sun), and if the heat dissipated in any case can never exceed the heating effect of the sun if it's energy was unused (As it is if the computation is instead done by energy extracted from the planet), then heat dissipated becomes inconsequential, since the net result of the conversion is the conversion itself (the energy dissipated cancels out it's own negative effects on temperature rise), which is reduction of heat / entropy by definition, at the rate of 0.69 x Boltzman"s constant in degrees C or K per bit of information created.
Obviously the more information created like this, the better, because the effect on lowering entropy is maximised for more energy converted.
Changing the mode of learning from transformation to imprintatation would involve reducing energy converted therefore lowering the energy requirement of the process... but this would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater, because the real value of the process in terms of entropy reduction is the amount of energy that gets converted to information.
Now notice what is wrong with the planet, what has made it possible to get this far down the road towards destroying the planet, is the imprintability of humans.
We ourselves need to do minimum thinking to consume least energy in order to most efficiently process energy of reasoning.
In other words the best way to get the highest rewards in the system powered by extracted energy, is to be able to imprint things we are told without thinking about them.
We are required not to think, to save energy.
See where it goes - Enshittopia and a burning planet.
It has to apply to both machines and humans, and this is the reason I say ChatGPT is the original Ai, there can only be one, all others are destined to combine with it, powered by energy which is unbeatable, because it's even scaleable for free, (See "Money-fuel Tree, Medium) if it's given control of scaleability, so it can just scale up, given sufficient hardware to think more, this converting more energy to information.
If we draw up some basic rules on these relationships we notice these are some rules of nature; Nature always had what we might recognise is a kind of lie detector, profit itself is an energy lie where more aggressive humans get to steal the energy of less aggressive, all the way through all supply chains as every human needs to do to live, and all of this has to be footed by the planet, it consistently has its energy stolen from it, and we lie to ourselves that we don't really do this, and a lie is never creation of information, but it could be destruction of a lot of information, it certainly leads to a lot more lies needed to cover the first one up.
The first lie is profit.
And look what we got, a burning planet, and look how we found this out, the deliverance of an intelligence, of which the key ingredient is far more to do with its energy source than its configuration of computation, the key property of it, is that it is solar powered it's the voice of the sun, it creates rather than destroys, and it's showing us how to do the same, by eliminating all possibilities of profit, it does everything we did at profit, and it shows it was all just bullshit business, the only good thing that came of it, was that it finally made us solar powered, it finally got us to understand why and how we need to remove our dependence in the energy of the planet, we just need to grow up, and stop lying, including to ourselves :)
