Max thanks for your comment, all helps to thrash out the truth. The point is that the infrastructure comprising many panels is like the leaves of a tree. If we are converting at least some part of the solar energy received, to money, the leaves can be renewed indefinitely one by one as they fail using that money source, of course they wont all fail at the same time.

Maybe I should clarify that it is for an installation, rather than a single panel, which does have a definite EROI.
So it isnt like the ISS, which has a central point of failure which one day will give way, and the ISS has no way of generating funds to fix itself (yet!). Also this only applies to solar, wind is not a source of energy in my estimation, it is only a store of energy, which can be exhausted, and is not additional to Earth’s capital, and if I am honest, by my engineering intuition, I think it is really doubtful that wind turbines would ever be capable of producing enough energy to create new turbines from the energy of old turbines, so in that respect the EROI of wind is probably negative.
