Looks like the lessons learned by Freeman Dyson might have died with him.
He was technical head of the Orion Project, which started in the sixties, ended in the eighties, classified throughout, but now public knowledge which appears to be being ignored.
The Orion Project was all about nuclear propulsion. In essence it involves a series of controlled nuclear explosions, at the back end of a very large hunk of metal, large enough to protect it's occupants from the blasts, and the radiation.
The project ended with the conclusion that the cost to humanity, in terms of the damage done to life remaining on Earth due to radiation fall-out distributed from Earth all the way out into space, would be unacceptable.
That was in the eighties.
Why now, forty years later, has it become acceptable?
Isn't that interesting, that we appear to have become not less susceptible to suicide as a species, but actually more?
Why are we all getting busy dying now, rather than getting busy living?
Because we are addicted to mathematically negative energy, that's why.
I don't mean that in the spiritual sense at all, I mean this as someone who has physically applied Joules all my life, Engineering, designing all manner of things that variously fly, submerge, go into space, sometimes go bang.
The Joules from the sun are the only ones which we can use with a net positive result.
That means actual creation, not destruction disguised as creation, which is the best you could get previously by the mathematically negative Joules extracted from Earth, even as nuclear.
Continuing our use of them is how we will finish, if we don't stop.
Now there is no need to continue using them, we could start using the Joules from the sun for real, tomorrow, then soon after be seeing all the genuine Engineering icons lost to profit in the past, brought back, things like concorde, and the space shuttle, not only flying on hydrogen, but everyone able to afford flying in them.
Also the instant end of all wars, including even gender, race, culture, and religion warfare, the end of all crime, both legal and illegal.
The only way we can correctly use those Joules received for nothing in return from the sun, is to pass them on for nothing in return.
That means issuing money for free representing them, because money is how we all get our energy in modern society. Every one of us consumes around 150 Joules per second 24/7 for life.
Why not the free Joules from the sun.
Why is seemingly no-one writing about this except me in my own Medium echo-chamber?
Because Medium is still powered from mathematically negative energy, that's why.
