Looking around, and as someone working on what I see is a global energy problem, since I saw it coming seven years ago on PhD candidate work, covid and climate change are both symptoms of the same problem. At the heart of it is something science seems reluctant to tackle, and yet we have to see that it is physical, its all about energy.
More energy moves by money than by any other means, and when the money is created as debt, this ties us into extracting energy. Take all the energy in profit, and add to the energy lost in extraction and refinement, not just in oil but in food and all commodities, and apply to the thermal mass of the planet, and look, it adds up to the temperature rise we are seeing.
You won't find this energy which has to have been applied to the thermal mass of the planet, modeling climate change by the theory of greenhouse gases. I know this because I have been a model based systems Engineer for a long time, practicing it in all manners of industry before the PhD studies mentioned. The skill I started from is electrical and electronic engineering, so we know all about radiation energy from the sun etc. The atmosphere is adiabatic, and this makes it extremely difficult to argue what the temperature rise will be, either way. The main theory of greenhouse gases came after the scientific community (I think it was Sweden or Denmark), had suffered some embarrassments by losing some scientists in some obviously foolhardy balloon missions attampting to cross the North pole, which failed. The were very keen to regain some reputation. The paper on greenhouse gases was their answer, because no-one could refute it. The theory appears to work, until it doesn't. The lab conditions where it was tested involved gas held at constant volume. This is not adiabatic. So the results are completely different from in adiabatic conditions, and its almost impossible to replicate the atmosphere for the test, without just testing in the atmosphere. The test in the atmosphere has been done now, and we should see the test has failed. The greenhous gas models have grossly underestimated the temperature rise.
How can they get it right, if it has nothing to do with greenhouse gases?
Anyhow, to me there are two problematic mindsets at work, there is the mainstream science community that can't admit it made a mistake, you know any scientist refuting the mainstream view gets sacked, accused of being a conspiracy theorist, and then there are the climate change deniers.
The real problem is science has a massive conflict of interest by being funded almost exclusively by for profit businesses. None of the research done can ever disappoint the funders of the research, all findings have to be either selected information, or information massaged to look acceptable to the funders.
Even "Non-profit" businesses are not actually non profit, they can't be, its impossible to survive now without making enough profit to at least pay bills, taxes, (If not fines for non-payment of such).
Now look at what profit actually is, its a method of stealing energy without it being realised that it was stolen, and yet if any individual or business does not indulge itself in stealing from others then it has to die, energy bankrupt, we none of us can survive, if all our energy is taken, and we can't replace it.
Do you think the utiltiies energy supply company supplies you with energy?
Convert the money you pay in bills for that energy to kWhrs at market rates and compare with the kWhrs delivered to you as electricity.
You pay more to them than they pay to you. The net flow of energy is from you to them, not the other way round.
The fact is we live in a system of energy slavery.
Not many can see it because we are commodified-education-blinded energy-slave-ants. We work for an emergent property, the one associated with us all working for profit. Its the same kind of inhuman intelligence that coordinates ants, directing them to sweep up all food (In our case, energy), until its exhausted, and then the worker ants at the periphery are expected to annihilate one another when the food (Energy) runs out.
This is why you see hordes of people now homeless, millions of immigrants on the move, and genocide happening in some places.
Its all connected, and its much worse than can be deduced by the theory of greenhouse gases.
I just scratched the surface here, but I hope you see this is the hard truth. Science probably will never accept it, until part of science itself maybe rebels, with this information, but it probably sounds too religious. Yet its all hard science!
You are right though, there is a solution, but it does require a massive coordinated change, that starts with issue of money.
It has to be issued to reflect the economic product being created from solar energy.
I call this solar indexed stimulus.
With that, everything changes, we move from heating to cooling, more or less instantly.
We should notice also that nature is sending us many signals this is what we have to do.
We think we created Ai (The solar powered Ai), but it was nature all along, we need to appoint it, to manage the business of being solar powere, issuing all money on it to all people, unconditionally, for free, no work required.
Doing that, incentivises and enables everyone to stop committing the nature-transgressing energy crime.
