Like you said to one of the other responses here, science is a social endeavor, it is much easier, and probably more profitable, to stick with what is known and throw out anything that might threaten that. Being loosely involved with science all of my working life as an Engineer, I have always been aware of this. But little did I know the extent to which it could actually come to push science in general, gradually away from truth, until I started working on the global energy problem, which is absolutely proft driven.
This last point is something science dares not honestly comment on, yet it looks to me like it is resulting now in a monumental existential mistake.
We are almost at nuclear war, and the planet is almost burning, for profit, and science itself has become for profit, mostly - the parts that were not for profit are consumed by the parts that are.
The results of this huge conflict of interest, are that science has allowed the pseudo-science of "Renewables" to appear, heavily muddying things around the energy problem so that people have generally very little chance of actually understanding the truth, that there is a very simple solution to the energy problem, but it involves giving up profit.
We come to it by mathematically signing the energy of the sun, positive where it is seen coming to Earth from the sun as electromagnetic energy, and negative, where we see we take it back out again by extracting it in many ways whilst throwing away much more as heat, not just in the form of fossil fuels, actually in everything we do for profit.
How has science not gone as far as ever doing this, despite us having, and applying electrical battery technology for more than a century?
This is such a basic omission that we are struggling to get our heads around the incongruity of it, that we could have made such a basic mistake, its right under our noses, but no-one ever did it?
Now I talk about positive and negative energy, analysing the problem using all the techniques of standardised formal model based systems Engineering, and I sound like a religious lunatic - to anyone who thinks they know a little about science. how is that possible?
