Lannie I agree nature will, and is already forcing things. I prefer "Observation" over "Theory", to describe my article.
To me it looks like there will be some degrowth happens automatically just by the availabiliity of solar product (Including money), there will be less need for folk to carry out work or industry they would rather not be doing. If we accept that our drive for profit, from source all the way throughout our economy, is the work "At the coal face" of exchanging labour for capital, in the form of energy rich fuels from Earth, then we should see that if we replace that with fuels created by energy received for free from the sun, then we remove the need for profit (Everyone has available free money - a solar powered UBI), then if follows that a lot of bullshit industry disappears.
Would criminals still commit crime, with free money? After all, isn't most crime just poor people trying to make profit? Would we still need police, and a criminal justice system if there were no criminals? Would there still need to be systems of Taxation?
Hopefully it is clear in the article that there is no way around the fact that we have to use the energy of the sun, there is no other actual source of energy, all else is capital of Earth, which we are consuming, and all of it was created from the energy of the sun in the first place.
Use that effectively, with all our ingenuity and effort, and all is fixed very quick, as far as I can see.
