Cam, to let you know, you appear to be trying to preach to someone with a long history of working with all of this, even creating patents in it. Did you check the book Medium used to validate my author status? It's about planar transformers, which are a component of switched mode power supplies. I used to design SMPS including integrated planar transformers as part of my work as an industrial electrical power meter hardware engineer. This was my first role after graduating from my second degree after ten years studying electrical and electronic engineering. After that I went into business designing arc discharge balasts for low voltage portable lighting, hence why planar transformers were a boon to help minituarise applications like that, but all were superseded by LED tech, which required different, far less power hungry driver electronics :)
