Jack, to me currency is just an abstract term for anything that transfers value from one point to another. A kind of medium of value.

Nature transfers value to us in the form of photons. So we might say photons direct from the sun are tokens of wealth, and the bulk movement of the photons

So the Earth increases in value, day after day.

And yet we account for all things as a fixed amount of capital.

That was all OK whilst we are not actually using monetised sunlight in our economy.

But now, large amounts of monetised sunlight are being exchanged for fiat money.

Thus at least some of the power consumed by Bitcoin is being pumped into our economy.
