I've been out of Scotland for thirty years, but that area of the Western Isles used to be my stomping ground when friends and I were into long distance cycling, growing up, in and around Glasgow, I cycled all around that area, only got as close as seeing the isle of Mull from across the water back then, but later toured by car with ex after I'd moved to England and got married, and we went over to mull and saw Tobermory, I remember it distinctly.
If I had to guess where the influence came from, to paint all in different bright colors, I guess it's from the continent, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc.
Our accent comes from there (France), and I guess maybe some other things stuck, like sense of art, and it came out there maybe. Thanks for posting!
