I've always said this, even written stories about it in Medium, MFA is not what it is claimed to be. It doesn't make logical sense that increasing the number of ways an attacker can attack increases safety at all, I don't understand how this was ever sold as a good idea.
But in many cases it is forced now.
What I do see is that we have to submit more personal data, to enable MFA.
When MFA is demanded, then in effect further vital personal data is demanded, like your email, or your phone number, which you might otherwise not wish to give out.
Insisting on MFA, is insisting on having your data, and data companies pay a lot of money for that data. So not only do you lose security, but you also lose data. Double whammy.
The success of the "Marketing" of MFA, despite it not stacking up by simple logic, is evidence of how susceptible we are to indoctrination, it seems to me.
Any and all people should ask themselves why, and how were they taken in by MFA, and what other things they might be being taken in by, it seems to me.
The thing is, as usual, we can't blame any individuals, it is the profit driven system which is gradually taking over almost everything we do, even the way we think, by being part of it, even subconsciously, we are submitting to it, and it is much easier to submit without questioning. MFA first appeared in government and banking security, and from there has been spreading to all things, so maybe that does indicate more susceptibility to indoctrination by government and banking emoloyees, I don't know, but either way, we are finding out the hard way that MFA, and indoctrination, are not so good.
