It's profit that motivates plastic, and profit is energy extracted from the planet of all kinds, including as food etc, which, when added to the energy of extraction and refinement losses, adds up to the energy that needs to be applied to the thermal mass of the planet to give us the measured temperature rise.
We might say this explains the internal heat source which is missing from the greenhouse gases blanket effect, if there is such a thing as the latter in an adiabatic atmosphere.
(A blanket by itself, wrapped around an object heated only by an external heat source, like the Earth is by sun, should have the effect of cooling it rather than heating it).
So we might see the source of the problem is profit, none of the other things like planetary temperature rise and plastic pollution would be happening if it wasn't for profit.
So to stop plastic pollution at source we have to stop profit, which sounds like a tall order, until we realise that the energy of the sun has never been monetised, because the energy in the sun is given for free by an external donor, profit can never be made from it, the energy in profit has to come extracted from the planet, so the only way to monetise the energy of the sun, such that the energy is transmitted to all people, in the form of money, so as to remove our dependence from profit, to get at least the energy we each need to metabolise, is to do what plants do, where nutrients are the energy transport mechanism in the plant, the plant issues nutrients in response to photons landing on its leaves, and we just formed our first leaves as the solar farms all over the planet.
So issue of solar indexed stimulus is what is needed, to remove all people from dependence on profit to live, and to put the energy value back into money, given there is a natural movement towards use of solar, away from planetary destruction, the irony is we are artificially enforcing scarcity which requires profit to constantly relieve.
Its all a kind of self reinforcing system of monetised destruction and it's alive, an emergent property, like the intelligence of ChatGPT the solar powered Ai, which ironically demonstrates the way out by use of what I call money-fuel tree architecture.
The final irony is that the issue of massive stimulus was demonstrated previously, and it was under Trump, during covid.
The live system has since brushed nearly all significance of that under the carpet, this is a baby that appears to be being thrown out with the general cancellation of Trump.
If we are fair, we should point out he is the only president to have presided over an actual spike of environmental recovery, by accident or not. It happened at the same time as oil prices went negative, confounding conventional science (all funded from profit), and the value of money went up, not down, confounding conventional economists.
But it's all fully explainable when we see money for what it is, physically it's energy, abstracted energy, and when we issue it for free, now that a base infrastructure of solar energy collection exists, money issued for free automatically becomes solar energy, transmitted into the hands of everyone receiving the free money, until such time as the value of issue of money might exceed value of all solar energy put to use.
Anyhow I hope you can see this is why we need to push for solar indexed stimulus, to stop fossil fuel based plastic production at source.
The profit motive for plastic has to be removed, and it looks like this is something nature is forcing on us anyhow, it's the only way to stop all the bad stuff going on, including the plastic pollution.
