It would be cool if scientists were to point out the difference between using energy extracted from Earth, and using the energy coming into Earth from the sun. Wind power is a little confusing in this, because it is seen as something similar to solar, when actually it is quite different. Use of wind takes energy from an energy field which is not heat, and turns at least some of it to heat, therefore use of wind adds to temperature impulse.
Use of solar converts joules which would otherwise end up as heat, into things other than heat, therefore use of solar has a negative temperature impulse. We should see this is the difference between creation and destruction. Creation cools, whilst destruction heats.
This can easily be seen by picturing Earth as just a kind of batttery, trickle charged by the sun. We currently take our energy effectively from the negative terminal, discharging Earth. Wind just does more of this. The reason we might think we need to use wind, is because wind provides an output, often when there is no sun. But if sufficient solar is in place, backed up by hydrogen, then the energy backed up to hydrogen could be perfectly fine, all year round, as long as enough solar collection exists to keep the hydrogen charged.
Folk think that would be expensive, and it would be in the current economic model of all things for profit.
But using the solar energy correctly means we have to monetise it, instead of only monetising extracted energy. There exists already hundreds of billions of money outstanding, that should have been issued to balance with economic product created by domestic and community based solar. All of that product adds to economic capital. Imagine all communiites solar powered, generating a net excess of hydrogen, keeping all planes in the air, all vehicles on the road, with none of the pollution and none of the positive temperature impulse, only negative, driving temperature back down.
That is the system we could have tomorrow, if solar indexed UBI was issued, with instructions we use it to install further community based solar hydrogen facilities. By this would increase the solar stipend, and therefore the UBI.
I don't know why this is not talked about more.
On how it would affect water, it would have a net effect of filtrating and circulating water. If vehicles were designed to collect their exhaust water, this could be direcly drinkable, with reasonable care of construction of vehicles, and dispensed anywhere refuelling happens, fresh water dispensed from the vehilcle in return for hydrogen fill, from whatever communities might have excesss hydrogen. Any communities short of hydrogen could receive it from other communities.
You mentioned food, and the need to cut down eating meat - see "Solein". The input energy component of Solein is hydrogen. So not only does it feed vehilces, it also can feed humans. Solein is very high protein, something most of us depend on getting from meat.
All of this is possible from solar, if we just started to issue the stimulus needed, and actually owed - solar indexed UBI.
Notice also things like ChatGPT are automating almost every activity that people depended on to make money.
We are going to need a UBI, one way or another.
It might as well be the UBI we are owed, and which will save the planet.
