It isn't humans per se which are the problem, it is the way we deal with energy which is doing the damage.
We could actually be very beneficial, if we used energy correctly, the way nature uses it.
As long as we don't do that, we are destroying our own environment, so of course we might think the only answer is to end humanity.
Humanity will end itself on its current course in any case, and we are not likely to change that course by just saying there are too many humans. Logically we will just progressively keep culling down to a size which is maintainable for a while longer, still doing the damage, progressively reducing population as the resources being lived on deplete towards zero.
On the other hand, we could start monetising solar, the use of which is unlimited, producing only things beneficial to Earth, but we seem programed to never understand this.
