It is really cool to remember this, but sometimes it obscures the solution to currently the biggest problem we've faced as a species; shortage of energy.
For most of our existence to date, we've served our energy needs by extracting it from mass of some kind or another.
That is because we equate money with mass, rather than with energy.
It worked well enough for a while, but at penalty of production of pollution, which in the end is accumulative, eventually outweighing all energy gains where it is extracted from matter, as we can see.
So the net gain of energy by the activity of extracting it from matter is negative.
The only way around that is to take our energy from the only source offering it independently of matter.
The sun.
I spend my time in Medium trying every way I can think of to try to show how we can do that. Doing it is easy enough, we have the technology to do it easily.
But knowing how to convince folk, this seems the most difficult part.
Any suggestions, anyone?
