It is a sad fact that the for profit system pits us against one another at the expense of the planet. We might as well be slaves in a gladiator arena. Personally I find myself avoiding those I consider real friends because I do not wish to be directly instrumental in their downfall, as might seem necessary now the "Shit is about to hit the fan". In these times, the best we can do is just be content with our own selves, and maybe the closest of family, as the only people we can and should depend on. For that you have to be content with your own company. That comes easier if we believe that what we are seeing is a transition, rather than a death of something. After the transition we can all be truly united in a system which will no longer force us apart.
Personally I think that is worth living for, and working towards.
I write a lot about this in Medium, it is all systemic, related to the global energy problem. Fix that, as nature appears to be driving us to do, and everything else is fixed, it seems to me.
