Interesting, two comments already, pitching opinion on the part religions play in slavery.

If we are driven by greed ourselves, as most of us obviously are, given our failing economy that obviously rewarded it, then we seem to take a dim view of the benefits of any messages warning of the dangers of greed.

Where else would messages warning of the dangers of greed have come from, if it was not religion?

Religions, in order to survive in increasingly greed driven societies, can be seen to have succumed to becoming somewhat greed driven themselves, perhaps invalidating them.

Folk seeking truth rather than profit should probably look closely at the history of that.
