Indeed use of geothermal in Iceland looks like a beneficial no-brainer, how could they do anything else, for now, I hope availability of the thermal outlets they are using stays as long as they need it.
But they can't issue money on it, because the energy is coming from an Earth bound source, use of it is mathematically negative.
So, faced by having to "Fit in" with the rest of the world, I hope and trust they will weigh up all benefits vs disadvantages, and find even in Iceland and other places near poles, solar is still possible, though they will need maybe ten times more real estate to do the same job as might be done in countries further South. They at least have no shortage of real estate.
Also like you say, they can receive hydrogen, but they would need something to exchange for it. I guess that could be something like Solein, if Finland was to share their technology, as they might be inclined to do, if it no longer needed to be retained for profit.
