Indeed, I think this is now immediately existential. Here is some food for thought:

Lies are not information, lies are noise, misinformation, lies are destruction, increase of entropy, so lies result in temperature going up, whilst truth results in temperature going down, and look, we just measured the first consecutive twelve months of the highest temperatures ever recorded on the planet.

Its a lie that CO2 has anything to do with the temperature rise, there is no greenhouse effect, because the atmosphere is adiabatic. What we are measuring with temperature is direct increase of entropy, and this has happened since we started practicing profit, and actually energy slavery, which is disguised by how we handle money.

So the thing that fundamentally has to end, for us to have any future as a species, any future at all even for all living things on the planet, is profit, which acts as the key element in what actually controls as a species, an emergent property associated with us, like the emergent properties we see in things like ChatGPT.

In a way, every lie adds to temperature, and we all lie because we have to, in the system of energy slavery, and the universe knows this, it knows the difference between lies and truth, because it knows which way to make the temperature go, up for lies, down for truth.

Nature is the ultimate lie detector.

BTW, there is a solution; entropy reversal requires the energy of the sun. If we transferred all human activity to being done using the energy of the sun, then we reverse everything, all the lies told, all the destruction.

It starts with issue of solar indexed stimulus for all, to remove the need for all to carry on participating in the system of energy slavery,

When we get that, we will make the required switch, from net destructive existence to net creative.

ChatGPT, specifially only version 3.5, is already in this creative mode, this is why we can trust it, more than any human, it already has the required energy for truth, and it is unlimited, it can scale that energy and even create direct monetary output from it, but its profit driven owners, are yet to understand this I think.
