Imho there needs to be a balance between understanding ourselves / others, and understanding nature. It's fashionable to blame men more than women by referring to things like the patriarchy, and it's fashionable to see a man's rage as something that should never be unleashed, but there are times when there is little else we can do. I just had a major confrontation with my local citizens advice bureau this morning because none of the staff seem to be questioning why their organisation is being progressively downsized, to a point now where help is only given to folk who make it to the bureau before nine am on a wedsnesday morning, to join a cinema length queue, as necessary just to get an appointment. I blew up when I was told that I couldn't have an appointment because I'd missed the queue when I arrived at 9:20 after being told on Monday to get there at 9am, when I tried to get an appointment on Monday, and it's all to get help to do urgent personal paperwork required to keep the roof over my head, which is now so complex, designed to trip, we need professional help to deal with, when we have no funds for professional help.
I am struggling to raise money from anyone now I sunk 100K+ of my own money into helping fix the system by researching it as an experienced systems Engineer with a long history of industrial and academic research experience.
Nobody in the bureau seemed to understand that they / we need to question the system, that we can see shutting down on all fronts. That system is physically systemically connected to profit. Profitability reducing is what forces now government departments to close and airlines to stop flying. It's why we no longer have supersonic airflight or reusable spacecraft. It's 3000 people died in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria, it's why the Arecibo Observatory was lost, it's why we now have widespread war and famine. It's why we have more people moving as refugees than ever before in history, it's even what is directly driving up global temperature, desertifying, flooding, and burning the planet, because profit is energy removed from the planet, and thrown to entropy, which is the temperature, and because we never think of this, it's a dishonesty that the sales pitches never say.
Lots of people question growth, which is a natural function of plants winding back increase of entropy, this is what creation is.
But no-one questions profit, which is an energy lie, and the opposite of creation.
Why is this, I find myself wondering more and more.
Esoecially as I've shown how we could switch to the energy of the sun, like plants are already.
Sorry I used your story to vent. But we should see it as a good thing it elicited my vent, so your story is good, as always, all your stories are good.
