Imagine, as flawed "Gods" ourselves trying to create humans as hopefully creatures which would ultimately develop into something at least as good, or even better than ourselves.
We might create some different, hopefully complementary flavors of humans, from some different mixes of the genes available to us.
Then we would leave them all guidelines, to assist them in their development, that we might think would be needed for all to have the best chances of working together.
A horrendously tricky task for sure, but would it have been better to just have left no guidelines?
