If you really understand systems interconnectivity, you should be able to see that the wrongs don't end with programmers. The folk you mentioned who employ them are arguably more to blame for nurturing the arrogance and narcissisiism of programmers, but even they themselves are victims of a system that demands it. The system designed to reward only profit is to blame for where we are, near extinction, and it depends almost completely on us each individually practicing it without even realising it. The only way to avoid being part of it is to live like the modern equivalent of Diogenese, but most of us aren't prepared to do that, yet, but I think we are getting there with things like goblin mode, the grand resignation, strikes, and so on.
