Ian I don't know what your background is, which makes you think you can speak with authority as if you know all about space technology. Mine is I worked in a senior Engineering position on a ten year launch programme which produced six satellites costing more than 250 million each. Those should have a life of maybe twenty years, thirty at a push, if they are not hit by any debris.
In that time I personally produced orbital modelling software, working in consultation with Dr TS Kelso using his NORAD TLE engine, which could track up 10,000 satellites, with a view to collision avoidance.
Starlink has already exceeded the capability of that software.
I am giving you my expert opinion that Starlink will end in tears.
I bet you Dr TS Kelso will say the same, though I haven't been in contact with him for a long time, I am no longer in that business, he is. I know how much we know at this level of experience, and I know experts like him must have been ignored to allow Starlink to go ahead.
What is your own background?
