I used to listen to rock also, and know all of the songs you describe. But now I insist on only listening to happy music, like salsa, cumbia, anything afro / caribbean influenced, even some of the indian and eastern kinds, they are all happier to me, and folk who listen to those seem much happier, even when the world throws everything negative that it can, at them.
You describe optimism as "Toxic".
To me that almost sounds like a kind of jealousy, like you wished you could be optimistic too.
I would say maybe you owe it to your child to find a way to be optimistic, she is too young yet to be long term affected by your negative outlook, and it doesn't have to remain, you are sensible, logical, you should be able to see the solution when it is staring you in the face.
We don't have to believe in recovery to what was before, to be optimistic, we just need to believe in change for the better, and that it is actually happening, or at least coming, to be optimistic.
If you are interested, you can check out the stories on the money-fuel tree, and Kardasehev money, here in Medium, and see how it works, or even doesn't work, in your opinion, I am open to conceding to anyone who can fault the logic and analyisis / research there.
This isn't even something we are in control of, not even the money issuers, as I've thought previously, they are not actually in control, they just think they are, but nature is in control, she is forcing their hand, to do the right thing in the end, issue the free money representing the joules received for free from the sun, empowering all people, to make the changes needed, that we all know deep down need to be made, just like your child knows.
We might realise humanity is really just at a turning point, when it has to move from being dependent on its mother planet for all of its energy needs, to the infinite energy of its environment, the sun.
Notice how similar that is, to the change made by a human baby when it is born, or a chicken hatching from an egg, or a new tree shoot, when it first forms leaves.
Far from being done, we are just being born as a species.
Of course there is a chance something could go wrong and we die at birth, but it is a small chance, and if we do our best to avoid taking unnecessary risks, we should be confident everything is gonna be just fine.
I wish you could see that.
I bet your daughter will too, if she remembers when you couldn't.
