I think you hit the nail on the head here in some places, thanks for posting.

It is easy to see the technology itself as something good or bad, when it is neither. It is simply a tool that we humans seem to be still learning how to use, or abuse.

Abuse is evident when bad things happen. Bad things happen when a system is designed to extract profits from many by a few. The more extreme that imbalance is, the more extreme the bad things become.

The Christchurch massacre is a stark example of something bad.

The ultimate example would be a nuclear war.

If that awful thing happened, it would not be the machines to blame, it would be us. It would be our own self destructive obsession with profit.
