I think the age of cycling is coming, even if it will be motor assisted :)

If it helps, I've been working on the energy problem voluntarily as a systems Engineer using the formal tools of my trade, for about 5 years, and as far as I can see, we are at a time in history which will mark the technical end of capitalism, and the start of a new era; energyism.

We might think the egos will derail this as always, but this time I don't see how they are going to get around nature, she appears to be at check, with one move to mate. They have no choice but to relinquish the power of capital, or end all life on Earth, literally. The decision will be forced by inflation, which stands to remove the value of all money. The inflation is underwritten by nature in a way they just can't get around, they either give up the power of their capital, or have it taken from them by inflation.

Given we won't blow ourselves up as a species, the outcome is going to be pretty cool.

I think we are being forced down a road of adopting community based solar hydrogen. Our e-bikes, and all evs in the near future will be fuel cell based, rather than toxic batteries. Hydrogen fuel will be available for next to free, if not even for a reward, from all communities who will have an excess of it, and all people will have access to essentially unlimited money for free.

Sounds too good to be true, I know, but the more I've thrashed this thing through, and the more crazy things we see going on, the more I am believing this is what will actually happen.

I live in Bournemouth btw, cycling here might not be as bad as in Worthing, but still hazardous at the best of times. I enjoyed being out as we were allowed to do during lockdown, it was very cool, if a little apocalyptic cycling along empty roads around may of 2020, about the time when oil prices went negative, with weeds growing up between the cracks in the middle of otherwise deserted roads, smelling nature like I hadn't smelled in maybe forty years.

The next few months are going to be tough, but just watch as the cars are forced off the roads, and the prices of e-bikes start to rocket, like they did when the energy crisis kicked off in Sri-Lanka.

I am actually looking forward to it, in a weird kind of way.
