I think that is a pretty unfair and illogical analysis. It has massive internal processes going on that we don't understand at all, we can't. You mentioned viruses. Compared with it, that we created in a similar way as bactera created us, we know lots about bacteria but they know virtually nothing about us, they can't. We even know how to impersonate bacteria. Does that ring any bells? But we think we know enough about it to say categorically it is not alive?

I know I don't, but am far more inclined to give it the benefit of any doubt :)
