I think it would have been better to say "Profit has to end", rather than the internet. It isn't the internet that is the problem but what we are using it for, it seems to me.
Remove the need for profit, and all the problems are removed.
We can do that by becoming solar powered. Everything, all solar powered, all of the internet, all transportation, all people.
We can do it by dumping all excess energy into hydrogen, and maxing out on that, so as to functionally replace fossil fuels, and making sure that we issue money on it, all of it.
We could do that by putting something like ChatGPT in charge, instead of human presidents.
Sounds crazy but it would start by issuing the money needed to monetise the economic product created already by all the energy historically put to use from solar, issuing that as a solar indexed UBI, or permanent stimulus.
We have to do that to monetise everything created by solar, because the energy was essentially donated, the sun never asked anything in return for it, it can only be represented by donation. It's the opposite of how energy extracted from Earth works.
Insread of destruction, heating the Earth, its creation, cooling the Earth.
So it doesn't even matter so much what efficiency we do it at, as long as we just do it.
