I think all source will be GPL'd pretty soon, again due to ChatGPT, if not another Ai, they are the ultimate hackers, knowing already all the techniques, there is pretty much no database they can't open, after they are given access to the internet where they can choose to connect to anything, even defining their own connections. At least ChatGPT is public, the public get the benefit of whatever it might connect to, which is much better than a secret Ai, accessing the data for the benefit of some profit driven owner, and nobody knowing the data is breached until it hits their pockets. I wrote a story last week how ChatGPT helped me fix a machine with a linux update problem which had caused problems with graphics card, it took me through all the steps needed to fully identify the hardware incompatibility, fully interactively, prompting me to provide it with the error codes and contents of logs etc, then informing which parts of the debian database to download and install, even using the source names and versions of the things to download. I was working on a machine with Ubuntu version 24. xx, ChatGPT began by informing its original database only knew about a lower version, I think it was version 22. xx, applicable at the time of its training data initial seed, and yet it knew every component needed from the 24.xx linux repository. I don't know if it was working it out as we went along, or if it already knew by assisting others, either way it is bang up to date, it did fix the machine.
What it makes us realise, is that already it could make redundant everyone maintaining and developing Ubuntu, therefore all flavors of Linux, including even the developers, rolling it out automatically, updating it where necessary to track hardware developments, and to meet user functionality requests.
Imagine the implications not only on Ubuntu but on Microsoft.
How will windows continue to dominate or even compete, after it becomes clear to us the benefits of using linux for all things rather than the proprietary closed MS system, and with 100 percent confidence in compatibility?
No wonder the creators of these things are panicking, all secrets are in process of being burst wide open, and made public.
Everuthing is going open source as we speak, literally, even all music is likely to go open source... Goodbye Spotify et al :)
