I struggled to follow your logic here, until I gave up. The whole point about drinking is that we get drunk, surely. Why would anyone spend the money on alchohol if they didn't want to get drunk? Why bother with a pill, rather than just stop drinking the alchohol? :)

This seemingly inane analysis maybe explains why we have industries being created to mitigate carbon, rather than just stopping the carbon generation, by stopping the extraction, which is a perfectly fine thing to choose to do.
