I share your gripe, and its an honorable sentiment, to wish to start manufacturing something that might revolutionise the manufacturing industry. I have some electronics manufacturing background, and once dreamed (And tried, more than once), to do something simlar.

But look what is the driver of the trends we are seeing, its the requirement for the business to not just make profit, but to make more profit than anyone else, so as to stay solvent whilst bankrupting everyone else, therefore coming to dominate the market. This is all whilst energy extraction yields are all on the way down, impacting all profitability in any case, and manufacture in Chiina is often now subsidised by government, therefore almost unbeatable by any private company.

I would love to see framework being a success, but it stands to reason that what you gain in serviceability you would lose in functionality, in the same profitability envelope, can't have both at the same price, unfortunately, as things stand.

But there is a way we might enable a fortuitous environment giving all startups equal opportunity as established businesses, whilst allowing virtually unlimited quality in the product, including full lifetime reusability, and state of the art functionality and performance, all in the one box, it would be radical, but it looks like we are going to have to move to it in any case, for a number of much more fundamental reasons that I write a lot about in my own stories, a benefit of making the move to solar indexed stimulus, all under the control of the solar Ai, would be that projects like this, that people see value in, things that we want, would all become possible, because they would never again by in competition, all would be in collaboration towards a single goal, to maximise use of solar, and thus maximise creation, driving down temperature rise rather than up, as it is now, we could do all of this with solar indexed stimulus, that we might see is like a kind of government funding, but what it means is a forever generous UBI indexed to solar production, for all people, incentivising all to implement more solar, generating things like hydrogen to replace fossil fuels stocks, but also making things like the forever computer you envision, genuinely made to last forever, with genuinely top state of the art performance and functionality.

If it wasn't for profit, it would be perfectly doable, but as stands, the reason they are lifetime limited, is to force turnover, pushing up profits. If they don't all play the same dishonest game, then they go under, this is the way it is, for now, unfortunately.
