I see it as quite the opposite, common sense is realising that most things for profit eventually find a way to exchange life for profit.
The author puts forward simple logic, citing undeniable historical facts, which is the definition of common sense.
The scary part about all of it is that we know of many cases in history where mob rule of inhumanity, led by a few fanatics, against minorities, becomes the norm.
We wipe out the real truth about how ordinary people become inhuman, then do it over and over again.
This just looks like more of the same to me.
