I agree with the general message in this article, but would be wary about directly tying the concept of wealth to energy, though there appears to be some correlation. Also, in theory, I would emphasise that the world receives a massive amount of energy every day from the sun; Oil is just a form of storage of the sun’s energy, received historically. So there is no shortage there. The question is, how to utilise it effectively.

Value, I think should be tied also to human activity, for example creating much appreciated art. Energy makes an art masterpiece possible, but it was human endeavour that created it, and human appreciation that gave it value. Both should be rewarded accordingly. Maybe this type of value, the value from human activity should be considered differently from the value represented by energy, but the former should be exchangable in return for the latter?
