I learned that we still haven’t dropped the use of the term "Renewable", to describe energy, which physically is not renewable (It all comes from the sun, continuously).
I can’t think of another physical science where such deceptive terminology is accepted, and I am a longstanding Engineer, applying physical sciences is my trade.
I took the time to analyse how our energy processes of extracting all our energy from Earth work, in conjunction with economy, and it is clear the two drive one another in a cycle; profit-drives-extraction-drives-profit, round and round.
In fact all profit drives all extraction, and all demand for extraction. Reductions in profit drive increases in extraction, to try to compensate.
Taxes, whether for carbon or anything else, reduce profits, so will result in increased extraction, as I see it, so taxes fix nothing in my opinion.

It would be more sensible to pay, to stop extraction, rather than fine after the result of it.

Just like it would be sensible to pay criminals to stop committing crime, rather than fining them after their crimes have been committed.

If anyone is wondering where all the money could come from, it turns out we can generate money from solar power, in the form of proof of work tokens, which are valuable, as we see with the price of Bitcoin and all of the other proof of work tokens.

So the quicker we ramp up large scale solar, the better, I would say.
