I lament this also, thanks for posting. The effect of disruption by our western war-mongering in and around places that were once desirable to visit is pretty tragic also. My sixteen year old daughter would love to visit Egypt, following my accounts of it, since her mother and I honeymooned there, before she was born, but I think it is way too dangerous for her to go now, and probably for the foreseeable future.
I also have fond memories of many of the Greek islands, which were very safe places to go, but are now besieged by large numbers of starving people seeking refuge from their war torn countries nearby.
I know refugees should not be considered as hostile per se, but desperate people have to go to desperate measures to survive, and none of it would be happening, if we’d just allowed the civilisations which were in development in those countries develop naturally, as ours once did.
