I know from a little exposure myself to academia, during my own virtual world related PhD candidate work, after many years in industry as a practicing (Chartered) systems Engineer; academic knowledge of Systems Engineering is quite different from experience of using it in industry, to build systems.
This is how I would question why the good academic does not seem to have brought energy into his considerations. Maybe this is what more of us should concentrate on, because this keeps us well and truly rooted in reality, imho, it's the lack of this root which is allowing folk to drift into their own actually physically impossiblr versions of reality, and then still not be able to recognise when an actual theoretical system is sound, its just something somebody else dreamed up, imho.
Anyhow it was my work on that project that uncovered the global energy problem to me, that I actually shelved the work of the project to do, because I knew there could be no sustainable virtual nor real world, until the energy problem is fixed, if it ever is.
That was in 2017
Ive been writing about now seven years and counting, 400 plus stories, an offline system model repository, 10,000+ replies in Medium, still nobody seems to notice or remember it, and yet it explains why just about everything bad we see happening, is happening, all fully auditable, even the difference between Ais powered by different sources, is explained, and actually that we are practicing a fundamentally dishonest energy lie (which is profit), and actually a planet destroying system of energy slavery, built on the energy lie of profit.
No wonder nobody trusts anyone, we must know deep down there always was something not right about profit, and us trying to profit from everyone we come into contact with, was bound to end in disaster.
Its especially frustrating knowing this, and knowing it could be so different, if we could just stop the stupid negative energy powered system.
The reason why Zucks metaverse, like any other for profit, can't survive is because it's for profit.
Any platform that depends on taking income from users is unsustainable, because the users then have to turn to making profit to pay their expenses on the platform.
Any platform that is powered by utilities energy has to take money from users to pay at least it's energy bills.
I show how money-fuel tree architecture can be used to generate wealth in world, infinite wealth, which can then be handed out to users, giving all a UBI.
I explain why this will work in both real and virtual worlds, and why it has to happen, it will eventually be forced by nature one way or the other.
Imagine Zucks platform trying to compete with one that pays its users, instead of taking money from them, and one that when used, the more users the better, just gets stronger and stronger, and all the while cools the planet with every bit of information created, but still, most folk think I just dreamed this up, my own version of reality, when it isn't, it's observation of reality, and how to work with that, this how how we build real physical systems.
I know nobody values any of this because my books don't sell, and I can't raise a dime in funding, other than from family, and obviously I can't carry on researching with only that.
So it looks like we will be learning the hard way.
