I just see two people saying pretty much the same thing here, but one is accusing the other of lack of knowledge. What is that likely to achieve?

I guess you might have meant to say "Descendent" where you said "dependent", but actually you hit the truth right there, we are all still very much dependent on slaves. Are the kids working in mines in the congo, for example, any less slaves than the ones we know classically from history? Do you not have some of those materials mined in your mobile phone? Of course you do. We all do, and that is only one tiny example of all the things we haave in modern society. So I would say slavery absolutely still exists, most of us do not have the choice of whether to work or not, and that choice is further removed by folk using investments to gain profit, which is almost all business and even anyone living from a pension.

This is what I believe is the point of Scott's article, and why I write in Medium mostly to try to open our eyes collectively that it doesn't have to be that way, there is always the option of Kardasheve money, now that we have started to use solar energy, which nature seems to be forcing us towards anyway.
