I have to admit I wouldn't know a Taylor Swift song if it hit me over the head. I know what she looks like vaguely, but what she sounds like I have no idea, though I am sure I've probably heard it, it's not something that would stand out to me. I used to like rock, started with Punk, the first tune that gave me an eargasm was the Sex Pistols B side, Johnny B Goode, they did it so badly it was genius, building up to a rythm that had me jumping around, aged about 14, I'd never been that affected by music before, and couldn't understand why nobody else seemed much bothered, all these claimed punk rockers, mostly older than me, wearing all the gear and crazy hair, when it came to the crunch, they didn't actually feel the music, it seemed to me. I became a big fan of John Peel then, with all the gems he uncovered until his unfortunate early demise.

Anyhow fast forward to now, and the music at the forefront of innovation to me is Latin / South American / African - Cumbia is the new punk, it actually claims it, have a listen to Son Rompe Pera if curious, but the amazing thing is their range, they can do melody and thrash all at once, using some crazy instruments but most of it is in Spanish.

Thanks for your interesting account, was really interesting to know of your experience as part of a band. I hope you and your sis are not too deeply split over Taylor Swift, the latter surely aint worth it :)

Btw I agree completely on Oasis, they never did much for me, they would need to do something much more special than they ever did before to get my attention :)
