I have a lot of respect for Freeman Dyson, but for me the idea of a Dyson sphere around the sun (far less around a black hole), is an interesting thought experiment, but strange that the idea, and associated ideas like the Kardashev scale, have been around for such a long time, and yet we have still to put the Joules of the sun falling on Earth alone to any substantial use, that is any use where that donated product is incorporated in our economy.
By rights (Austrian Economics), freely donated product should be reflected by the free issue of frely donated money.
Joules are product, no matter where they came from, and whether or not labor is associated, when we put them to use, the capital of Earth is added to.
But free money isn’t issued, and that to me is probably the biggest reason by far, why a solar powered humanity on Earth hasn’t happened yet, despite it being something we instinctively know has to happen, standing in the way, is our capitalist economy.
Substantial free power, and thus substantial free money, are the end of capitalism, and this has been known since the days of Nikolai Tesla, when he was defunded by JP Morgan.
When will we be prepared to let capitalism go, to save our planet?
