I hate to be the one to dampen your enthusiasm (I love your enthusiasm!) but geothermal is just more stored energies of Earth. I wrote some technical pieces a while ago detailing the long-term adverse effects of using every kind of stored energy I can think of. There are none with zero effects. In some ways, the effects of those are even worse than what we are currently experiencing due to using oil.
We can undo most of the damage done by destruction of materials created by the energy of the sun since Earth creation, by switching to assist the sun to create more.
But if we use energy stores that exist on Earth independently of ongoing sunlight, then we are using stores which cannot be replaced, as there is no energy source we can use to undo the damage.
That is why the only safe energy source is solar, Because that is the original source of it all.
But it goes even deeper. Solar energy is the one monetised by nature, via nutrients in trees which are passed to all living things in some form or another. Nature uses nutrients in the same way as we use money, to transfer energy. But nature ensures a steady flow of it to all living things whereas we don't, we deliberately scarcify it to all others. We'll get over that, when economists and bankers admit that the product received from solar is additional to the existing capital of Earth, and should be monetised, per the ideals of Austrian economics. When we do that, we will finally see all humans receive a generous share of money/energy, without needing any formal "Jobs" or business. I don't believe that is long now, we saw a hint of it when $4Tn was issued in US per month, oil prices went negative, the dollar went up, and a stack of other pleasant surprises happened, which can all be explained if we understand that what was happening, was nascent solar energy product being monetised.
If we ever did manage to create fusion, the result would be most humans remaining permanently starved of energy, all supplied from whoever owned fusion, happier to be the leader of a permanently stunted humanity, than a member of a healthy humanity limited only by our imagination, it seems to me.
Would the owners of fusion wish to see the end of all possibility of all humans becoming independently solar powered?
Absolutely, so they would be using their incredible power to lobby for things like Geo-engineering, to literally switch off the sun.
By that, we would increase the reflectivity of Earth such that we would be thrown out of orbit from the sun, we would become a wandering dark planet, albeit fusion powered, in only a few years.
