I had an experience with a tick, I think a deer tick, in my ankle about thirty years ago, no way could I have plucked it out with tweezers, even if I did, I am pretty sure it could not have been done without damaging the tick, most of its body was embedded, what was visible was only a small part of it. I ended up cutting it out with a Stanley knife, not knowing much about ticks, and not knowing how they can infect. Sure enough I got a nasty recurring rash which affected my whole lower leg for years afterwards. Luckily I don't seem to have gotten any brain or joint effects.
If I was to offer anyone advise on how to deal with one, I'd say don't tackle it until you have to hand some strong disinfectant, then as soon as you get it out by tweezers or otherwise, thoroughly disinfect the wound, maybe even use a poultice to be sure you get everything out. I am pretty sure if I'd done that, I would have avoided the after-effects I experienced.
